Registration as a British citizen is generally a means by which minors and certain categories of persons may apply for British citizenship.

Persons who are below the age of 18 may apply to be registered as British citizens. Usually, this will be because one or both of their parents are naturalising as British citizens or because one of their parents has been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Minors and other persons who have lived in the UK for the first 10 years of their life may also apply to be registered as a British citizens.

There are also certain persons who were previously denied British citizenship because they parents were not married who may now be able to apply for British citizenship.
